The people at the Giant hotel were much more reasonable than those at Cologne yesterday. The latter called us 2 hours before the boat had to start, and frightened us all by hurrying us down to the quay 50 minutes before she left it.
Here at Coblentz we were allowed to take our own time & come on board 15 minutes before the packet left. Lord Newry with his mother brother and sister came among the latest passengers & twice we had to stop for his male servants and his female ditto, who came after us in haste and in little boats. Our fellow passengers were many of those the same as yesterday, One was a young German in a bleuse with his wife, who were the most silent couple we ever saw; he was too much engaged with his wife from morning till night (query-------) to do ought else except to eat, and she
