Oh must not his toilette have occupied him long. - After some preparation he fell into conversation with his neighbour a pretty girl whose father resembled the duke of Cambridge we thought, & who was very angry with the head waiter for charging him too much for dinner. The garcon re?counted it most theatrically struck his breast & saying “[ ] Moi, je suis francais”; the scene amused us all exceedingly. The Duke turned out to be a Mr Smith. On my side was a Baron, several nobles were at table, as I saw on their cards before sitting down. None of them had rings on! –
